23-24 Coaching Staff

The wrestling program is extremely grateful for the countless hours and support from volunteer coaches and the wrestling families. We wouldn't be able to do it without your help.

Below we highlight the 2023-24 staff coaches:

Sean Fortmann

Sean Fortmann

Sean Fortmann, Co-Head Coach, is in his 14th year coaching for Muskego. In High School, Fortmann was a 4 year Varsity letter winner, 2 time Regional place winner. Fortmann was a 4 year letter winner at the University of Oshkosh, and a 3 year starter. He was a three time WIAC place winner and 2 time Conference Scholar Athlete. In 2005, he was honored as an Academic All-American. When asked about his favorite wrestling moment he says “It’s hard to pick just one. I would say that many of my favorite moments have come at the WIAA Sectional Tournament. Our teams have won big matches there to qualify for state.” Fortmann says his coaching philosophy is simple “we preach attitude and effort to our wrestlers. If you have a positive attitude and put forth as much effort as you possibly can, good things happen.”

Dominic Schanen

Dominic Schanen

Dominic Schanen, Co-Head Coach, is in his 20th year coaching at Muskego. In High School, Schanen was a 4 time state place winner, taking 5th, 6th, 3rd, and 3rd respectively. At Lakeland College, Schanen was a 2 time NCAA Division III National Qualifier and Academic All-American. He is the first National qualifier in any sport for the college and was the first wrestler inducted into the Lakeland College Hall of Fame in 2014. Schanen adds that his favorite wrestling moment was “winning the Regional final my last year in college to qualify for Nationals the second time.” His coaching philosophy is “to promote the sport of wrestling and instill the life lessons of hard work and goal setting in the athletes that touch our program. To use the sport to build relationships with the athletes and their families to drive them to achieve more than they thought possible.”

Troy Mendez

Troy Mendez

Troy is in his 3rd year coaching wrestling at Muskego and brings a wealth of experience to the team. He has been up in the wrestling room as a volunteer coach for the past 7 years, as well as a Freshman Football Coach for 5 years. He also has been working with the youth in the Muskego Youth Football program for the past 8 years coaching various ages. Coach Mendez looks to have the boys learn real life disciplines in the room. His philosophy is that hard work pays off, and not always in the form of winning, but in knowing they have put their best forward.

Adam McNally

Adam McNally

Adam McNally is in his 2nd year as a staff coach. A Muskego Alum he was a volunteer coach for the Warriors last year. He was a stand out for the Warriors in his tenure and said his favorite memory from wrestling was being able to wrestle with his brother. His philosophy is “As a coach, I want to encourage my wrestlers to be aggressive and always look to score points. Also, I would like to them to focus at getting better at one thing each day.” He hopes wrestling teaches the athletes that working hard will allow them to do things they couldn’t do before.
